Bufo quercicus

Every amphibian has its favorite hours of activity, and many amphibians are most active at night, when it is safer for them to roam around. The Oak Toad, however, is most often seen during daylight hours. This is the smallest North American toad. Watch for it rummaging around in ground litter and debris.
Look For : A very small gray to blackish toad with a prominent white to yellowish stripe down the center of its back and red warts on the undersides of its feet. Pictured here with vocal sac extended. Call sounds like the "peep" of a baby bird.
Length : 3/4-1 1/4".
Habitat : Lowland pine and oak forests.
Range : Southeastern U.S.
