Acris crepitans

Cricket frogs are non-climbing treefrogs with no pads on their toes. Like many frogs, Northern Cricket Frogs can be quite differently colored from frog to frog. They are one of the last frogs to breed in spring and early summer. Even though they may be abundant and active during the day, their small size can make them a challenge to find.
Look For : A small, variably colored frog with warty skin and a dark triangular mark between its eyes; upperparts have dark blotches and/or stripes. Call sounds like 2 pebbles being tapped together rapidly.
Length : 1/2-1 1/2".
Habitat : Grassy edges of ponds and streams.
Range : Most of eastern U.S.
