Aneides lugubris

Arboreal means "of the trees," and it is the perfect name for this salamander, which gets beneath the loose bark of trees and climbs all over the place. Arboreal Salamanders often climb trees to heights of 30 or more feet, and one was once found 60 feet up.
Look For : A tree-climbing, brown-backed salamander; creamy white below.
Length : 4-7".
Habitat : Various woodlands, from oak to pine.
Range : Coast Ranges and Sierra Nevada foothills in California.
