Calypte anna

Anna's and other hummingbirds defend their feeding territories against other hummers that try to move in. Although a territory is often as small as a few clumps of fuchsia plants, it provides enough nectar and small nectar-feeding insects for the hummer to live on.
Look For : Long, thin beak. Male: rose-colored crown and throat, with metallic green body.
Length : 3-4".
Habitat : Woods, gardens, thickets.
Range : Pacific Coast to Arizona.
