Icterus galbula

The Baltimore Oriole was named after Lord Baltimore, the 17th-century Englishman who founded the Maryland colony and whose coat of arms was black and orange, like the bird. The Baltimore Orioles of baseball fame named their team after the bird. Now you know what the team colors are!
Look For : The male is black with bright orange on breast, rump, shoulder, and tail, and has one white bar on the wings. The female and juveniles are brownish above with dull yellow-orange below.
Length : 7-8".
Habitat : Forest edges, shade trees in cities and suburbs.
Range : Summer: eastern Canada and U.S. Winter: southern Atlantic coast and Florida.
