Scorpaenichthys marmoratus

The Cabezon spawns in winter, and the male guards the mass of greenish to purplish eggs until they hatch. This large, tasty sculpin is a favorite with anglers, who catch it from the shore, where it lives among rocks.
Look For : A sculpin with a fleshy tab on midline of snout.
Length : 3' 3".
Habitat : Coastlines to depths of 250'.
Range : Alaska to southern California.
