Hypsypops rubicundus

The male Garibaldi prepares the nest and guards the eggs until they hatch in two or three weeks. These beautiful fish are protected by law in California, and may not be caught for any purpose.

Look For : A chubby, bright reddish-orange damselfish.

Length : 14".

Habitat : Kelp beds, coastal waters to depths of 95'.

Range : Monterey Bay, California, to Baja California, Mexico.
