Leuresthes tenuis

The California Grunion spawns on the beaches of the Pacific coast during the high tides of spring and summer. Females may spawn from four to eight times a season. The California Grunion is one of the silversides -- a family of slender, elongate fishes with two well-separated dorsal fins, the first of which has four small, slender spines. The silversides get their name from the bright silver stripes along their sides.
Look For : A large silverside with no teeth or very minute teeth on jaws.
Length : 7 1/4".
Habitat : Pacific coastal waters to depths of 60'. Spawns on beaches.
Range : From San Francisco, California, southward.
