Urbanus proteus

The caterpillars of the Long-tailed Skipper feed on a variety of plants, but this skipper is always common where beans are grown. Farmers call this species the Bean-leaf Roller because of the caterpillar's habit of using silk to tie leaves together. The rolled leaves provide the caterpillars with protection from birds and parasites.
