Hemaris thysbe

Just like a hummingbird, this moth feeds by day, hovering in front of flowers, and drinking nectar with a long, flexible tube (proboscis). The proboscis rolls up when not in use.
Look For : A spindle-shaped body with bands of green, orange, and red across abdomen.
Length : 1 1/2-2".
Habitat : Forests, rivers.
Range : Northern regions and the eastern U.S.
