Anthocharis sara

Few animals are as well named as the striking orangetip butterflies. The bright orange wingtips bordered in black look like flashing lights on a sunny spring day. The caterpillars of the Sara Orangetip feed on flowers and fruits of plants such as wild radish and mustard.
Look For : Wings white above, black-bordered, orange band on fore wing of male; female varies.
Length : 1 5/8".
Habitat : Mountains, coastal plains, deserts.
Range : Western U.S.
