Clouded Sulphur

Colias philodice

Because it feeds on clover, alfalfa, vetches, and many other weedy and common members of the pea family, the Clouded Sulphur has spread dramatically. Not all of the females look like the males; some females are white instead of yellow.

Look For : Yellow fore wings. Male: black border on fore wings. Female: yellow-and-black border.

Length : 1 3/8-2".

Habitat : Fields, meadows, parks.

Range : Widespread except Southwest, Florida.
