Manduca quinquemaculata

The caterpillars of this species are seen much more frequently than adult moths, which are called Tomato Hornworm Moths. Although these caterpillars are called Tomato Hornworms, they also attack the foliage of potatoes, eggplants, green peppers, and various weeds. A related species, called the Tobacco Hornworm, devours tobacco plants. It is not true that these caterpillars can "sting" with their horns.
