Polyphylla decimlineata

These beetles fly low over fields on warm evenings and sometimes gather around artificial lights at night. Adults lay their eggs at the bases of shrubs and trees; when the eggs hatch, the larvae burrow down to feed on the plant's roots. The Ten-Lined June Beetle is a type of scarab beetle. The larvae of scarabs are long-legged grubs that always hold their bodies in a C shape. These larvae are often encountered when you dig or pull weeds in loose soil.
