Ovis canadensis

Like the Mountain Goat, the Bighorn Sheep lives in hard-to-reach mountainous areas. But unlike the Mountain Goat, the Bighorn also lives at lower elevations and in warmer, more southern regions, even deserts. At times, these sheep will roam out onto meadows or prairies if cliffs to escape to are nearby.
Look For : A brown sheep with a white snout, rump, and belly. Massive horns in a tight spiral. Can be seen in small herds of 5 to 15.
Length : Body 4-6' long, 3-4' high; tail 4-6" long; 74-316 lb.
Habitat : Rocky cliffs and canyons from alpine tundra to deserts.
Range : From southern British Columbia and Alberta south to California and New Mexico.
