Conepatus mesoleucus

The Common Hog-nosed Skunk, sometimes called the Rooter Skunk, has a broad, piglike nose pad, which is built for rooting for the insects that are its chief food. This species also eats reptiles, spiders, mussels or clams, small mammals, and plant material. Usually out at night, it is sometimes seen feeding in broad daylight. Like other skunks, if threatened it sprays a foul-smelling liquid that can burn the eyes.
