Antilocapra americana

Although the Pronghorn is easily spotted, it is almost impossible to approach. It can run up to 70 miles an hour, making it the fastest mammal in North America, and its excellent eyesight can detect motion 4 miles away. The Pronghorn is sometimes called the American Antelope.
Look For : A medium-size deerlike animal. Light brown with a white rump and belly.
Length : Body about 4' long, about 3' high; tail 2-7" long; 75-140 lb.
Habitat : Grasslands, brushy areas, and agricultural areas.
Range : Southeastern Oregon, southern Idaho, southern Alberta, southern Saskatchewan, Montana, and western North Dakota south to Arizona and western Texas.
