Felis pardalis

This beautiful wildcat is on the U.S. Endangered Species List, and only a few cats remain in Texas (small numbers live in Mexico). The Ocelot population has suffered because its habitat has been destroyed to make way for farms and housing developments. It has also been killed by farmers trying to protect small animals and poultry, and has been killed for its fur or captured to be sold as a pet. It is now illegal to sell live Ocelots or Ocelot skins or to otherwise harm or bother one of these animals.
Look For : A medium-size cat with a long tail. Tan with brown spots outlined in black.
Length : Body 24-36" long.
Habitat : Forests and brushy areas.
Range : Southern U.S. (mainly Texas).
