Storeria dekayi

This is the snake most frequently uncovered in city yards and parks throughout the eastern United States. This species is fond of wet habitats, so well-watered gardens with lots of slugs and earthworms are a decent substitute for the wet woodlands and boggy meadows that it prefers outside of the city.
Look For : A snake with a row of brown spots on each side of tan back stripe. Dark spot under eye and side of neck.
Length : 9-20".
Habitat : Lots, gardens, grasslands, forests.
Range : Southern Canada to eastern U.S.
