Nerodia cyclopion

This rather plain-looking water snake is primarily active during the day, but may also hunt for minnows and small fishes in the evening. The most favorable habitat is wooded swamps, where many individuals may be seen basking in branches that overhang water. Like other water snakes, it gives birth to live young. This is important for snakes that live in wet environments where nests might easily become flooded.
Look For : A greenish water snake with a muted pattern of spotting on back. Light half-moon marks on belly. Similar Florida Green Snake of Southeast has plain belly.
Length : 30-50".
Habitat : Quiet or very slow waters.
Range : Lower Mississippi Valley.
