Ophisaurus attenuatus

If you're familiar with alligator lizards you'll immediately recognize this lizard's face, because the glass lizards are basically a legless version of alligator lizards. Slender Glass Lizards have powerful jaws with which they crush smaller prey. For larger food items such as rodents, they grip the body tightly in their jaws while they pin the animal against the ground or some solid object until it stops struggling.
Look For : A brownish glass lizard with a dark back stripe and stripes below fold on sides and under tail.
Length : 22-42".
Habitat : Open woodlands and dry grasslands.
Range : Southeastern and central U.S. from Wisconsin to eastern Texas.
