The Tundra Swan breeds in remote areas of Alaska and northern Canada that are not often visited by humans. Because of this, it has not suffered from hunting or habitat loss, as the closely related Trumpeter Swan has. Although it was nearly extinct at one time, the Trumpeter has been making a comeback.
