Dendroica petechia

In North America, the Yellow Warbler is one of the main victims of the Brown-headed Cowbird, which lays its eggs in the nests of other birds, letting the "foster parents" raise its young. If the female Yellow Warbler discovers a cowbird laying eggs in her nest, she quickly covers the alien egg with a new layer of nest and lays another clutch of her own eggs. Occasionally a nest is found with up to six layers, each containing one cowbird egg.
