Periplaneta americana

Also called a "Waterbug," the American Cockroach can fly, as well as escape on foot into cracks in our homes. It stays hidden by day, but at night goes out in search of food (which includes just about everything).
Look For : A flattened, reddish-brown body with a pale yellow head shield; very long antennae.
Length : 1 1/2-2".
Habitat : Moist, dark crevices in vegetation and buildings.
Range : Florida to Mexico; Antarctica to Greenland.
