In our Slugs category, I learned that there are thousands of species of slugs -- in fact, 3,000 types of slugs live in the ocean! Sea slugs are also called "nudibranches," and they live near the ocean's shore around reefs and tide pools. Nudibranches are very common in the Pacific Ocean, but they're found in every ocean, even near the Antarctic. While more species live in water, you've probably seen some of their land-crawling cousins. Land slugs like warm, moist places, and they live all over the world. These slugs prefer to come out only at night and in the early morning when the ground is damp with dew. That's when they like to munch on plants.
