Rhoetosaurus was the first large dinosaur discovered in Australia. At first, it was thought to be very similar to Camarasaurus but further discoveries have shown that it had a number of differences from the North American dinosaur. Rhoetosaurus was a large, long-necked plant eater.
Known from mostly tail vertebrae and parts of the hip, this dinosaur has been studied a great deal as it represents a rare look at a large Australian dinosaur. Fairly bulky for its overall size, it has been suggested that it could have grown much larger than the current fossil material that has been uncovered indicates.
