Gryposaurus was a common duck-billed dinosaur that lived in what is now western Canada. It was a large plant-eater that would have traveled in herds while trying to avoid being eaten by some of the earliest tyrannosaur family members.

Since its discovery in 1912, there has been a great deal of naming controversy surrounding Gryposaurus. It seems very closely related to Kritosaurus  In fact, species now recognized as Gryposaurus were once considered a species of Kritosaurus  There seems to be a geographical boundary that separates these genera.
