Lurdusaurus was a member of the same dinosaur family as Iguanodon. It was a large plant-eating dinosaur that lived in herds. Like Iguanodon, it had a spike for a thumb, which could have been used as a defensive weapon. Its large size might have also been a good defense against all but the largest predators.

Lurdusaurus is considered to be a fairly evolved species of Iguanodon  ia, although it appears that it was more compact and squat than other members of this family were.
