Timimus was a member of the family of dinosaurs that looked like big ostriches. These were among the fastest of the dinosaurs, with long and strong legs, long necks and small heads. It is related to the Jurassic Park star Gallimimus. What these dinosaurs ate is still being discussed. Their small heads don't seem very threatening compared to other meat-eating dinosaurs and recent discoveries show that some didn't even have teeth, they had beaks with filters.
The discovery of this dinosaur in Australia, and the fact that it was found in rock much older than the more common northern hemisphere discoveries, has led some to think that the ornithomimosauria may have originated on the supercontinent of Gondwana.
