Lycorhinus was one of the first of the Jurassic dinosaurs to appear in Africa. This was a little plant-eater, related to Heterodontosaurus. The heterodontosaur family of dinosaurs was primitive and seemed to have died out in the Jurassic period. They were all small animals with no real defenses against predators. In fact, they were probably an easy meal for the meat-eaters.
Lycorhinus was one of the first recognized members of the heterodontosaur family. It is known from only a partial jaw, and the jaw seems to indicate that it still chewed in a reptilian manner.
