Rioarribasaurus was one of the first dinosaurs to live in North America. There was discussion among scientists as to whether this dinosaur was actually Coelophysis, though for a while it looked like Rioarribasaurus would become its official name. However, it was recently determined that this name is not valid and the name Coelophysis would be used instead.
This was a small, meat-eating dinosaur with a long, thin neck. It was lightly built and would have been a fast hunter. It is the best known of all the dinosaurs because more than 1,000 individuals have been found. Apparently, a fierce flood wiped out a huge group of these dinosaurs that were gathered in one place, an area that is now part of New Mexico in the Southwestern United States.
