Patagosaurus was a large member of the plant-eating, long-necked sauropods. It was related to Cetiosaurus and lived at about the same time. What makes it important is that it was found in South America and since Cetiosaurus was in Europe and Africa, it shows that these huge sauropods traveled from one continent to another.
Patagosaurus is the oldest known South American sauropod. It is known from a dozen individuals found in the same formation.
