Triassic weather - hot and dry
Time map

The Triassic was hot and dry. Since almost all the land on Earth was clumped together in one huge landmass known as Pangaea and centered near the equator, there was probably not much change in the weather from season to season. Pangaea's interior would have been composed of very dry deserts and the coastal regions would have been tropical. The Earth's ground temperature was also much warmer than today so the surface temperatures would also have been much warmer. Ocean currents would have been very different and probably carried warm water and warm weather to the coasts

No flowers, no grasses and a lot of earthquakes Plant life would have looked very different. There were no flowering plants, no grasses and the trees were also very different. Ancestors of conifers would have been the largest trees. Many of the trees used spores instead of seeds to spread new plants. The weather probably helped plants grow continually and rapidly. There would have been much more geologic activity than we see today - more active volcanoes and many more severe earthquakes. There were very few freshwater lakes and swamps. Many of the lakes that did exist would have been too salty to support life. The few swamps that did exist would have been home to ancient crocodiles and turtles.
