Dan Estrin, Doug Robb, and Markku Lappalainen first started plotting their musical careers back in 1994--influenced by diverse rock groups ranging from Phish to Guns N' Roses, the three began writing tunes together in their southern California suburban hometown. By early 1995, they felt "tight" enough to start looking for a drummer, and took out an ad in the paper which was answered by Chris Hesse. A gig at Los Angeles hotspot the Roxy followed a few months later, and Hoobastank was officially born.
