The story of Finch's beginnings is a testament to the persistence of one of its guitarists, Randy Strohmeyer, who has long been a true fan of the Drive-Thru label. Before Finch was even a gleam in a musician's eye, he was penning fan mail and shooting it off to Drive-Thru. Later he tried to promote interest from the label in a few groups he belonged to, but the attempts fell flat. Still, Strohmeyer maintained communication with the label he admired, and even developed something of a friendship with the label's co-owner, Richard Reines.
