RBD

The Latin pop-rock group RBD got its start on a popular Mexican TV show, "Rebelde." The band is made up of six cast members of the show who perform as their characters: Alfonso and Dulce María (guitar and vocals), Christopher (drums and vocals), Maite (keyboard and vocals), and Anahí and Christián (vocals).

RBD recorded the show's opening song for its first two seasons, and now provides all the music throughout the show. In 2004, the band released its first album "Rebelde," which hit #2 on the U.S. Latin Billboard chart and went double-platinum. The next year their second album "Nuestro Amor" was released and immediately went to #3. That album has since gone platinum as well.

The huge popularity of RBD has caused several promotional events in Texas, New Jersey, and California to be cancelled, because the crowds that attend these events are so large that they cannot be safely controlled. To satisfy their many U.S. fans, the band members are currently working on an English-language album, which will be released and promoted during their first U.S. tour in 2006.
