After a six year hiatus, Laurie Berkner releases her fifth CD, "Rocketship Run" on August 5. Seismologists will be mystified by unexplained nationwide bouncing.

We only slightly jest.  Laurie Berkner has been called "one of the most popular children’s performers in America" by The Wall Street Journal and "a kind of sippy-cup Sheryl Crowe" by Time magazine. Her first four CDs were big best-sellers, and her 2006 CD topped the Billboard Music Video chart for more than seven weeks, eventually going quadruple platinum. 

"Rocketship Run" features more than 20 new tracks, in styles ranging from samba to ska to conga to jig to country—with an almost-torchy rendition of the standard “Fly Me to the Moon” thrown in.  We've had a listen to an advance copy of the CD and it’s a definite big step forward for The Band.

"Rocketship Run" is arranged as a musical rocket journey in search of treasure. Dialogue between Laurie and bandmates Susie Lampert and Adam Bernstein ties the songs together.

"It's a much more collaborative effort than I have ever done before," explains Laurie.  "We arranged most of the songs as a band, Susie and Adam have both contributed songs and I co-produced the ablum with Bob Golden, who recorded/produced the sound for all our NOGGIN videos and our 2006 DVD, instead of doing it all myself.  We also have a lot of talented guest artists performing on this CD."
